Install your AskGPT chatbot on WordPress using the plugin download or manual embed.
Option 1 — Download the plugin
From your chatbot's Embed page, download the ready-made WordPress plugin. The download is built from the current plugin source with your Bot ID already filled in, so it is always the latest version. Version 1.2.2 adds an Explore Cards screen that publishes WooCommerce categories or products to your full-page assistant, alongside the [askgpt_full_page] shortcode and the Bot ID and margin settings in WP Admin.
- →Go to your chatbot → Embed tab
- →Click 'Download WordPress plugin' to download the ready-made plugin .zip
- →In WordPress admin: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
- →Select the downloaded .zip file and click Install Now, then activate the plugin
- →Navigate to WP Admin → AskGPT Chatbot page in your sidebar
- →Customize the pre-filled Bot ID, Margin Bottom, and Side margins if you need to offset the widget
- →The chatbot widget automatically appears on all public pages
- →Optional: WP Admin → AskGPT Chatbot → Explore Cards → paste your API key (Embed tab), tick the WooCommerce categories or products to feature, and click Send to AskGPT
Option 2 — Theme editor (manual)
If you prefer manual installation, paste the embed script directly into your theme.
- →Appearance → Theme Editor → footer.php
- →Paste the embed script before </body>
- →Save the file
- →Visit your site to verify the widget appears
Option 3 — Plugin manager
Use a header/footer plugin like 'Insert Headers and Footers' to add the script without editing theme files.
- →Install Insert Headers and Footers plugin
- →Settings → Insert Headers and Footers
- →Paste script in the Footer section
- →Save changes
